Multitarget Tracking of Distributed Targets Using Histogram-PMHT
نویسندگان
چکیده
It has been shown previously that the Histogram Probabilistic Multi-Hypothesis Tracking (HPMHT) algorithm enables tracking of targets distributed across several sensor cells. Two related aspects of the H-PMHT algorithm are discussed in this paper, namely the estimation of target spread, and the use of the negative multinomial distribution to compensate for unobserved sensor cells. The examples presented show how the negative multinomial reduces bias in the target spread estimates near the edges of the sensor display. Examples are given in the context of multi-target tracking on a sonar broadband display.

Track-Before-Detect for an Active Towed Array Sonar
Conventional active sonar processing systems typically reduce the sensor data from an intensity map to a pointmeasurement form via a detection thresholding process. This approach is often sufficient for detecting and tracking high signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) targets but becomes more challenging for low SNR targets. Track-Before-Detect (TkBD) is an alternative tracking technique that supplies ra...

The Histogram Probabilistic Multi-Hypothesis Tracker (H-PMHT) algorithm is a parametric track-before-detect method. It locates targets in imagery by fitting a mixture of probability densities. In recent work, an unknown target shape was accommodated through the use of a Wishart prior on the measurement probability density, this version of the algorithm is referred to as H-PMHT-RM. This paper ap...

The Maximum Likelihood Probabilistic Data Association (ML-PDA) tracker and the Maximum Likelihood Probabilistic Multi-Hypothesis (ML-PMHT) tracker are applied to five synthetic benchmark multistatic active sonar scenarios featuring multiple targets, multiple sources and multiple receivers. For each of the scenarios, Monte Carlo testing is performed to quantify the performance differences betwee...
متن کاملDistributed Multitarget Tracking and Identity Management
The problem of tracking multiple targets and managing their identities in sensor networks is considered. Each sensor is assumed to have its own surveillance region and an ability to communicate with its neighboring sensors. We propose a scalable, distributed, multitarget-tracking and identity-management algorithm that can track an unknown number of targets and manage their identities efficiently...
متن کاملDetecting a Small Boat using Histogram PMHT
The conventional tracking paradigm is to sequentially apply a single frame detector to each sensor frame and then employ a tracking algorithm to determine which detector outputs originate from targets and which are false alarms. The tracker associates detections from a particular target and estimates parameters of interest for the target [3], [1]. The obvious shortcoming of this approach is tha...
